Royal Rangers Outpost #99

  • Outpost 99 is hosting a Royal  Ranger Derby and is inviting you to attend and compete. You can order kits from your Ranger leaders, James Frederick or Bob Mason. 
  • Concessions will be available during the event. All proceeds will go towards the Ranger summer camp costs. 
  • We are also looking for volunteers to help with the event (concessions, set up/ tear down, clean up, and MC)


Rules and Information

  • Participants: Any boy or girl K-8th grades may participate. There will also be an “Open Class” for anyone else who wants to Race.
  • Cost: $10 Per Derby Kit (Includes Car Kit, Race Rules and Race Registration)
  • Race Day: Friday, April 14 , Starting at 6:00 pm
  • Car Cutting Days: To be determined (During Family Night Classes)
  • Registration Deadline: All cars MUST be registered and turned in by Wednesday, April 12th. Late entries will only be allowed to compete in the “Open Class” division
  • Racing Divisions:
  • K   -  2nd Grade Boys and Girls
  • 3rd - 5th Grade Boys and Girls
  • 6th - 8th Grade Boys and Girls
  • Open Class:  Anyone else who wants to Race (Leaders, parents, adults, etc.)
  • Best of Show: All entries will be entered and voted on for the “Best of Show”
  • Grand Champion: Only cars that placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in their respective divisions*
  • All cars must fit on and roll down the track without interfering with any other car.
  • Cars must meet the following specifications:
    1. Maximum Length (including all attachments): 7 1/2"
    2. Maximum Width: 2 3/4"
    3. Maximum Height: 3"
    4. Maximum Weight: 5 1/2 oz. (156 grams) [*****Very Important for Overall Speed*****]
    5. Minimum Under-Car Clearance: 3/8"
    6. Minimum Distance Between Wheels: 1 3/4"
  1. All Derby cars must be made from the Derby kits provided by Racine Assembly of God. If parts from other derby kits are used, that vehicle will only be allowed to race in the “Open Class.”  *These cars cannot qualify for the Grand Champion Division*
  2. The contestant may add weights to the car in order to bring the car to the maximum allowed weight. They may be placed inside the block, mounted as an ornament, or be otherwise permanently attached. Weights may not be taped or simply set on a car.
    1. If weights or any other part of a car comes off during a heat, the heat will be re-run. If the same car or parts leave the track again, the car is disqualified from racing. No heat/race will be delayed while repairs are made.
  3. Once a car has been registered, no further work may be done to it.
